Hamptons Summer Preview Party: Behind The Scenes
On May 7th, NYC: Invitations asked us to debut our Spring/Summer 2012 collection at the beautiful Empire Hotel for their “Hamptons Summer Preview Party”.
Although the weather was dreary, the models lit up the room as they sauntered down the runway in their Hamptons-inspired looks. Orchids from Orchid Diva complimented the elegance of the event.
Music from The Stephane Wrembel Trio set the mood.
Laura Kaululaau, the makeup artist for the show gives us the skinny on how she achieved the radiant summer look that she gave the models.
“Jia’s Summer 2012, nautical collection was draped in colors of white, navy, gold with accent of orange and red. I wanted the models to have a very fresh, polished look, with a strong pop of color on the lip.” Says Kaululaau, “It’s all about the skin.”
Kaululaau used all MAC products for this look. First she prepped their skin with Strobe Cream to brighten the appearance and give it a dewy glow. Next she used Prep + Prime Skin Smoother for an impossibly smooth, soft feel. She used Lustre Drops and a Bronzing Powder for the perfect sun-kissed look. She finished off the skin with Pink Swoon and Peach blush. For the pop of color she painted the girl’s lips with fruity shades like Costa Chic (with Trimmed in Pink liner), Vegas Volt (with Mouth Off liner), and Lady Danger (with Cherry liner).
Brendan Cannon provided the smart styling for the girls. International fashion agent, Autumn Marie did double duty. She modeled in the show and provided some jewelry for the event from a designer she represents, Sogoli.

Jia wasn’t the only designer at the show! Mary Arnett, designer of Ssh-oes paired her shoes with Jia’s looks for the runway.
Arnett’s shoes are not only adorable and comfortable; they are designed to be quiet as well. So you won’t make that loud clicking noise every time you walk down a hallway. I got the pleasure of meeting Arnett at the show and found that the talented designer is such a sweetheart! She graciously gave me a pair of her Madeline Pumps and I have been in love with them ever since!
Yours truly,
